In the game, there is a reference to Hogwarts Legacy’s story. An in-game text reads: “Someone added a note in the margin: ‘Season canceled due to Headmaster Black being a prat.’”

The easter egg refers to one of the game's biggest complaints, which explains why a player can’t take part in the Quidditch matches. Unfortunately, Avalanche Studios didn’t include it in the game. Instead, the game explains that Headmaster Nigellus Black canceled the sport due to a student injury.

The game has a glitch that allows you to unlock Solo Forest levels. To unlock a level, go to the last Solo Forest level you have unlocked and click “Start.” Once you have clicked on the “Start” option, spam click on the next level. 

Spamming clicking on a locked level after clicking “Start” will unlock the level. Only spam clicks on the locked level until it pops on the screen.

This card-playing game focuses on a new Hogwarts student. At the start of the game, you’ll learn part of the game's basic mechanisms through a few cutscenes.

After the initial cutscenes, you’ll need to create your character. The customization options for your new student are rather limited at the start of the game. Attending Hogwarts and visiting Diagon Alley will unlock other customizable items. Create your character and select your player's name, gender, facial features, scarf, and coat.

Once you have customized your character, you must select a house. Select one of any four houses: Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor. A sorting hat will suggest one of the houses by default. You are free to choose any of these houses.

As a student, you’ll need to participate in and attend classes at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Class participation points are necessary for the Yearbook story progression and to complete daily tasks.

Classes at the school are divided into mini-games such as Harry Potter trivia during a History of Magic, rhyming games at the Social Club, and a tower defense game in Creature Care. 

You will be placed with your NPC classmates the first time you attend a class. You can use the matchmaking queue to join other players once you have some game time under your belt and are accustomed to the basics of gameplay.

Tapping on the Homework option opens a list of daily and weekly missions. Completing these tasks rewards your player with gold. There are also hidden chests situated around the campus that periodically respawn. 

As a new student, you must spend time acquiring Echoes and ingredients for potions in the Forbidden Forest. Your Yearbook is an indication of where you’re at in the story. Each year has a different story segment, and completing them will reward your player with Cards, Gold, and Gems.

Collecting cards is an essential part of the game. Cards are your general abilities when fighting, and every card requires a unique point cost for its use. Movement cards allow you to reposition your player in the game, but repositioning is limited to the number of cards you own.

Cards are categorized into classes based on rarity, from highest to lowest. There are four classifications of rarity: Legendary, Epic, Rare, and Common. The rarer the card, the stronger the card. 

These cards are divided into different groups: Spell cards and Summoning cards. A Spell card is immediately effective once cast, while Summoning cards are used in the battle to trigger an effect. 

Additionally, your deck of cards needs to include Companion cards and Echoes. Companion cards assist characters, while Echoes are essentially your player's special abilities in their deck of cards. A strong deck of cards is strategically equipped with Echoes. 

To collect cards in the game, you must complete Yearbook entries, participate in Magical Studies, and open Flying Car rewards. Like any card dueling game, your cards must be upgraded, which requires gold and card duplicates.

Upgrading your card levels will increase your Spellbook level and overall power levels. Be careful only to upgrade the cards that you use. Gold is regularly available at the start of your game but becomes harder to acquire, and upgrading cards becomes expensive. 

Dueling other players is an essential part of the game. Once you have collected a decent amount of cards and synthesized potions, you will be ready to duel. Participating in duels will reward your player with ranking (depending on your overall score and performance) and keys.

There are several keys, including Golden Keys, Silver Keys, and Ruby Keys. You can win up to 3 keys per day from dueling other players. Each key is a form of in-game currency that can be exchanged for card draws.

To duel other players, you must unlock the dueling club of Hogwartz by completing the first part of the Yearbook. To win a duel, you must deplete the health bar of your opponents using a combination of Spell and Summoning cards. 

Dueling points are awarded at the end of the battle. Creating a PvP spell potion will prevent your player from dropping rank when losing a match.

If you are unhappy with the Legendary cards you receive from your Advanced Study gold key pulls, you can reroll and change them. The card system is the only means to victory; therefore, having the right cards is pivotal to success.

To reroll, you’ll first need to get past the Dumbledore and Voldemort battle in the story. Next, you must get the Gold Keys to open the Advanced Studies Gold Key packs. Once you have the packs, open them to get your pulls.

Click on the “Redraw” option to reroll cards you aren’t interested in taking. You will only be allowed to reroll your pulls once, and this can only be done after the Dumbledore and Voldemort battle.

After the battle, you will receive enough Gold Keys to unlock 10 Advanced Studies Gold Key packs. In these packs, you will have a chance to find Legendary, Dark, and Mythic cards. You will find a Legendary card in the pack; if you don’t like it, you can reroll the Legendary card.

To reroll the Legendary card, select the card you want to exchange and click the “Redraw” option.  You can reroll Legendary cards as many times as you would like, but keep in mind that the selection of these cards is limited.

Use Gold Sparingly

A lot of gold may be available at the beginning of the game, but as you progress, it becomes harder to earn. Instead of upgrading all the cards in your deck, only upgrade the ones you like.

It can be tempting to upgrade all your cards at the beginning of the game, as this increases your spellbook level. However, when you start, there’s no way for you to tell which cards are good and what kind of deck you want to play. 

If you are reluctant to spend your gold, you will reap the benefits later in the game by having enough to upgrade your favorite cards to their highest levels.

Don’t Upgrade Lower-Tier Echoes

Building card decks is how you battle in the game, although they only form one part of the game's mechanism. After some time, you’ll unlock Echoes, special abilities you can use when battling.

Echoes come in the form of iconic witches and wizards from the Harry Potter series, such as Harry Potter and Snape. Each Echo comes in one of four tiers: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Upgrading lower-tier Echoes such as Common and Rare is not worth the effort; it’s only worth it to upgrade Epic and Legendary Echoes.

Class Hack

If you're struggling in History or Advance Studies classes, sign up your NPC character to do the class with you. Wait a moment before answering a question; your NPC characters will eventually answer the questions, which will be marked correct or incorrect.

Go to The Forbidden Forest

The Forbidden Forest is an area in the game filled with rewards you can unlock just by exploring it. Gold, potion ingredients, and Echoes are scattered throughout the woods. Additionally, visiting the forest allows you to earn one key a day.
