New Vehicles and Upgrades

Unlockables

As you play, your Driver Rank will increase. This unlocks new vehicles and upgrades you can use to improve your vehicle.

New vehicles are also located throughout the map. You can unlock these new vehicles by finding them.

Some additional upgrades can be found throughout the maps, as well. There are 65 total upgrades for your vehicle. Upgrade locations will be marked on your map whenever you find a watchtower for that particular region.

Be prepared for the unexpected

Easter Eggs

There is a sign you can come across that says “Prepare for the unexpected.” This unusual yellow warning sign is actually based on a real-world sign found in Canada. It appeared in the first game, MudRunner, as well.

All Upgrade Locations (Including Hidden Upgrades)

Hints

Although most upgrades are marked on your map after you find the watchtowers, there are some that will not be marked even once you’ve unlocked every watchtower. These hidden upgrades can be tricky to find. The video guides below show the location of all upgrades in the game, including the hidden upgrades, so be sure to take a look if you’re having trouble finding any of them.

Basic Tips

Hints

Watchtowers are one of the first things you want to look for. Finding a watchtower reveals things on your map, including vehicle upgrades and new missions.

Navigating the terrain can be tricky, so you want to make sure you not only uncover the watchtowers, but also plan out your path ahead of time. Use scout vehicles to get a better understanding of the terrain whenever you enter a new area.

You’ll also want to make sure you have enough fuel for the journey. Check on the number and location of fuel stations along the way before you begin, as you’ll likely need to stop and refuel along the way.

Clear away obstacles and repair broken bridges to make sure your path is clear. This is often better and will save more time in the long run than attempting to find an alternate path around the obstruction.

When you’re driving off-road, be sure to engage All-Wheel Drive. However, this uses more fuel, so when you’re on even terrain or a road, you should turn it off again. There are many vehicle settings that can help you in specific situations.

Your winch can help you pull vehicles and other objects or pull your own truck if you get stuck. Keep in mind that it is powered by your engine, but use it when the situation demands. There are many different situations where the winch will come in handy.

If you need money, you can sell vehicles you aren’t using. You’ll be able to buy back any vehicles you sold for the same price. Buying, selling, and upgrading are all handled from the Garage screen.

Meanwhile, if there’s a vehicle you particularly like to use, you can use Truck Storage to move your vehicles to other maps and areas.

You can change the time from your map screen, so if you’re having trouble navigating the roads at night, just skip ahead to day.

In addition to the trailers you can buy, you can also find trailers and take them with you. Like vehicles, you can sell trailers and then buy them back later at the same price.

Speaking of which, not every area has a garage. If you’re in need of repairs and are in an area without a garage, you can consider buying a maintenance trailer and then selling it back as a temporary replacement for the garage.

Hints

There are numerous vehicles scattered throughout each map that you can find and obtain. If you’re having trouble finding any of them or want to see what vehicles are available, use the video guide below for help.

Wolves

Easter Eggs

From time to time, you can see a wolf. Rather than appearing naturally, they will simply pop into existence at times. If this happens at night, their eyes will glow, often making it so that all you can see are the glowing eyes visible in the darkness. Some players report also being able to hear the wolves howling at night. If you attempt to approach them, the wolves will simply vanish. Due to its strange and unsettling implementation, this is considered to be an easter egg rather than just normal wildlife in the game.
