Figure Out How You Want to Play

Focus on the Objective

All the competitive game modes are objective-based, but many players will neglect the objective in favor of getting in as many kills as possible. While you might find this fun, it won’t help your team win. You can still lose with 30 eliminations, so do all you can to ensure you win the game.

Because this is an online game, there are tons of people searching for matches. Many players opt for roles they might not be the best at to cut down on queue time. You shouldn’t do this in competitive game modes, as it will keep you from excelling.

Don’t Waste Your Life

Players have an infinite number of respawns in most game modes, so many just rush into enemy fire with the mindset that they’ll respawn anyway, so there’s no need to play it safe. Unfortunately, all they’re doing is giving the enemy team an advantage.

It takes time to respawn and then return to the objective, time that the other team can use to complete their objective and win the match. Before deciding, consider the risk versus the reward before jumping into action. You might find that taking a detour to collect a random loot box is more trouble than it’s worth.
