Despicable Me gun

Easter Eggs

If you play the Gears of War 4 prologue on the Insane difficulty level, you can find a reference to the movie Despicable Me. After you make it through the start and enter the code to open the gate (which will include a short cutscene), defeat the enemies in the room beyond as fast as you can, and run toward the stairs. Before you reach the stairs, turn right to see a gate starting to close. If you’re fast enough, you can make it through before it closes. (Insane is the only difficulty level in which the gate stays open long enough for you to get through.)

Inside, you’ll find a special gun called “Despicable You” that fires ice and can freeze anyone within its radius. This is a reference to the freeze ray used by Gru in Despicable Me.

Unfortunately, you can’t get more ammo for this gun anywhere in the game, and it isn’t found anywhere else.

Riding a Reaver

Easter Eggs

In Act 1 – Chapter 0: Prologue, when the Locust Reaver appears, it is possible to ride the Reaver if you kill the pilot and quickly board the Reaver by going beneath it and interacting with it. If you wait too long, it will die, but once you’ve gotten onto the Reaver, you can dismount and mount it at will.

Tomato Grenades

Easter Eggs

In Act 2 – Chapter 2: Geared Up, after you defeat the enemies in the greenhouse, shoot all of the tomato plants. Make sure you don’t miss the plant hidden on top of the shelf. Once you’ve destroyed every tomato plant, Marcus will complain furiously about it. Near the greenhouse door, a new tomato plant will appear, and you can interact with it to get “Dom’s Tom” tomato grenades.
