Sony expecting PS4 to sell-out

Sony says that the number of pre-orders placed so far for the Playstation 4 is higher than anything it’s seen in the last 20 years, and that since August 5 it has been advising retailers not to guarantee “Day One” shipments of consoles to any customer wishing to pre-order.

The problem with pre-orders, which is a good problem to have, is that they’re very, very high. Higher than we’ve ever seen in 20 years in this business.

Speaking to Official Playstation Magazine, Sony UK VP and MD Fergal Gara also said that they’ve had to restrict deliveries to some retailers in order to “help [them] manage customer expectations and not let them down”. High numbers of pre-orders is obviously a good thing, but it could quickly turn into a PR nightmare if hundreds of thousands expect their consoles to turn up on November 15 (in the US) or November 29 (elsewhere) but don’t receive them. Sony will want to make sure things run as smoothly as possible and it seems like they doing their best to make sure that happens.

We are going to be looking at a sell-out situation and chasing demand, it’s a problem, it’s kind of a good problem to have, but it is a problem and we’re trying to manage that as responsibly as we possibly can.

PS4 Cheats’ hopes that you’ve got a console reserved for launch day, cause we have, and we’re also planning on bringing you all the cheats, codes and everything else you want to maximize the enjoyment of your new console come launch too. If you still haven’t pre-ordered, check out this link.
